From legacy integration to a future-ready MuleSoft platform

An almost three-year migration of a 10+ year enterprise integration platform based on Sonic and Adaptris to MuleSoft and Fortra MFT.

The challenge

The existing platform supported business-critical information flows and had many technical and organisational dependencies. The migration therefore had to enable modernisation without disrupting continuity.

The approach

The migration was delivered in phases, with a consistent technical direction and close collaboration between integration experts, application teams, leadership and integration partner Devoteam.

  • Map legacy interfaces and dependencies.
  • Build a target architecture on MuleSoft and Fortra MFT.
  • Involve application teams early in validation and migration testing.
  • Migrate interfaces in a controlled way with continuity in mind.

The result

Renewi now has a modern integration stack that can connect new applications and customers faster. The platform provides a foundation for further standardisation, scalability and reuse.

The next development stage

The next focus is the upgrade to CloudHub 2.0 and the continued professionalisation of B2B APIs for secure and scalable customer integration.

A shared achievement

The result was made possible by the support of CIOs and directors, internal and external integration experts, Devoteam and application teams across Renewi. The technical direction had a constant factor, but the migration was emphatically a team achievement.
